Evergreen Avenue is the home of two very popular Mexican Restaurants: Ciro’s and Manuel’s El Tepeyac. Ciro’s is a sort of little brother to Manuel’s El Tepeyac but it more than holds it own.
The avocado salsa on the table is the best you will find in Los Angeles. The salsa is served with fresh chips as a free appetizer. In other Mexican restaurants this would cost you extra. At Ciro’s, it’s on the house.
The cocido (beef soup) is great. It is made fresh daily and comes in two sizes. The other dish Ciros is famous for is flautas. Flautas are similar to corn tortilla taquitos but are made with flour tortillas… yummy! They come in an order of three and are extremely tasty. They serve other traditional dishes such as enchiladas, tacos and chicken plates. But you will be amazed at the salsa on the table.
Ciro’s is a small and intimate restaurant so you need to be prepared to wait and to keep your conversation to a whisper. Parking is street only so give yourself some time.
Ciro’s is one of the reasons local business people, politicians, police officers and local residents return again and again to Evergreen Avenue for their favorite Mexican food.
