Located in historic Old Sacramento, Fanny Ann’s is an iconic Sacramento bar and restaurant that features a wide variety of burgers and casual fare served pub-style in an historic three-story building.
The fare is great casual food with daily specials running from ‘shroom burgers to fish tacos.
But Fanny Ann’s is more of an experience than a meal. The original Fanny Ann’s was a converted 1840’s steamboat turned brothel that once plied the Sacramento River during the Gold Rush era and served as a transport for Union soldiers during the Civil War. The décor of the current building – including a civil war cannon resting above the entrance – was salvaged from the brothel/steamboat after a wild party resulted in a devastating fire.
One of the longest operating businesses in Old Sacramento, it’s packed with tourists, river rats and Capitol City heavy-weights who want good food and cold beer away from the preppy-haunts in downtown and midtown. And it’s one of my favorite places for a late drink with friends.
