If you’re looking for a terrific sandwich and/or soup or chili, House of Bread Bakery Café won’t disappoint. When you walk in the door, you get that wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread and you’re greeted by some of the nicest store owners I have ever met.
The bread is baked fresh daily, so it’s always moist and the sandwiches are amazing. Piled high with whatever ingredients you want from a wide variety of options, my personal favorite is the cranky turkey on grandma’s white bread. It’s thick layers of shaved turkey breast, dried cranberries, cream cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. They don’t skimp on anything and the sandwiches are very filling.
There are always a couple of choices of delicious soups and chili and they always are happy to provide samples of their breads -- from chocolate and pumpkin, to artichoke pesto, garlic cheddar and challah. If you’re like most people, you will leave with at least one loaf, maybe some rolls, scones or cookies as well.
This place is my father’s favorite. When he gets a craving for a good sandwich, he will scream from the other room to me to go to the “bread place” and get him a sandwich. It’s never a hardship for me and he’s never been disappointed.
It’s a place that takes you back to the days when people shopped at the neighborhood bakery, knowing they’d get fresh, delicious baked goods at a fair price.
