Electric Karma gives you a true feel of authentic Indian dining. Beautifully decorated with Hindi movies shown nightly, Electric Karma is a lovely place for a nice sit down dinner, or a private party in their romantic patio.
When we entered the restaurant we had a feeling this would be an unusual dining experience and we were not disappointed. We started off with some interesting drinks: I ordered the Nimbu Paani, a carbonated ginger lemonade, and my friend Connor ordered the Mango Lassi, a mango yogurt shake. Both choices complimented the food nicely.
For an appetizer we ordered the Samosas, a vegetarian turnover with tamarind chutney, which was perfect with the potatoes and spices inside the turnover. If you are not one for spicy things I would stay away from the tamarind chutney, or try their Vegetarian Pakoras, a veggie fritter served with sweet tomato chutney.
For dinner we ordered Garlic and Onion Naan, traditional Indian flat breads to go alongside the entrees, as well as two orders of rice. My entrée was a fish curry; Connor ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala: my mother ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala, and my father ordered the Lamb Kabob. Not too much heat in any of the entrees which surprised me, but the flavors really got a chance to stand out. While the fish curry was a bit fishy, the lamb and chicken dishes were tremendous. My favorite dish was the Lamb Tikka Masala. The dish was unbelievably flavorful and the lamb was cooked to perfection. The servings are just the right size and served family style in the middle of the table so everyone had a chance to try everything.
By the end of the meal the owner, Paramjit, came to our table to ask how everything was. I love being approached by management in an establishment; it really shows that they care about the feedback of their customers. He suggested a couple of desserts -- Gulab Jaamun, which are milk balls served in rose syrup, and Kulfis, mango flavored Indian ice cream. The ice cream was a great palate cleanser and the milk balls were moist and the rose syrup was exceptional.
Overall, the experience was phenomenal. The staff was attentive and friendly and the food was fantastic. What more can you ask for?
I would recommend making reservations as the restaurant is on the small side and fills up very quickly. Parking is available on the street and also in valet.
